CSF President Eric Stallmer Reflects on the Five Year Anniversary of President Obama’s Speech at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center

Colorado Springs, CO – It was only five years ago today that President Barack Obama visited NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida and laid out his vision for the future of American space exploration. President Obama spoke of accelerating innovation in the private sector, and five years later, we see the results of that commitment to the commercial spaceflight industry. Our industry is more robust and competitive than ever before, and President Obama and Congress’s investment in private sector pioneers has paid off in the form of thousands of new, high tech jobs around the country and continued assurance of our nation’s status as the leader in space exploration. From programs designed to restore U.S. access to orbit, to smaller initiatives designed for the development of cross-cutting technologies, these industry public-private partnerships are dedicated to maturing the capabilities of the space sector. From all of us at CSF, we applaud President Obama and Congress’s commitment to securing U.S. leadership in space and expanding our Earth’s economic sphere. We look forward to continued, bold innovation from a commercial spaceflight industry that’s stronger than ever before.
